Mission profile from NASA Human Spaceflight
109th Shuttle flight (25th for Atlantis)
STS-110 to Add S0 Truss to ISS
STS-110 will be the 13th shuttle flight to the International Space Station. During this mission, Space Shuttle Atlantis will be delivering the S0 Truss, and the STS-110 crew will conduct four spacewalks to install the new component. The S0 will be the centerpiece of the station's exterior framework and sets the stage for future expansion and research.
Also, STS-110 spacewalkers will install the Mobile Transporter, which will later be attached to a base system that will allow the station's robotic arm to ride along the truss to perform assembly and maintenance work.
Commanding STS-110 is Michael Bloomfield. Stephen Frick is the mission's pilot. Rex Walheim, Ellen Ochoa, Lee Morin, Jerry Ross and Steve Smith are mission specialists. The STS-110 astronauts will be assisted by the Expedition Four crew.
